Kilgore, TX is a beautiful city that offers several opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors. Fortunately, there are several amazing state parks that are within driving distance of Kilgore. Today, we’re highlighting our three favorites.

1. Martin Creek Lake State Park

If you feel like life is getting too hectic, we strongly recommend finding peace among the pines at Martin Creek Lake State Park at 9515 County Road 2181D. You can hike or bike, take stunning nature photographs so you can feel tranquility wherever you are, or picnic with your family. You can also fish, swim, and water ski in the lake.

Martin Creek Lake State Park is also a great place for camping. You can opt for a primitive campsite on an island or enjoy electricity and water while you camp. If you want to spend the night in the park without camping, you can reserve a cabin or screened shelter.

2. Caddo Lake State Park

Caddo Lake State Park at 245 Park Rd 2 is also well worth a visit. One of the most popular things to do in this state park is boating on Caddo Lake: the 26,810-acre home of over 70 fish species. Fishing and paddling are also extremely popular at this state park.

You can also spend the night here. Some people enjoy staying in a screened shelter. However, there is a wide range of campsites you can choose from, including full hookup sites and sites with only water. Additionally, there are several historic cabins available for rent, accommodating anywhere from two to six people. This is also a great place for a family get-together.

3. Tyler State Park

Finally, we strongly recommend visiting Tyler State Park at 789 Park Road 16. There is a lake here that you can fish in from one of three fishing piers. You can catch bass, catfish, crappie, and perch. There is also a boat ramp, so you can bring or rent a boat and enjoy a gorgeous day on the water. However, you must keep your speed to no more than five miles per hour if it has a motor.

Hiking is also extremely popular here. There are over 13 miles of trails you can explore, and you can also camp, rent a cabin, or spend the night in a screened shelter.
