The Jeep Compass debuted in 2007 and is now in its second generation. It’s a compact five-door crossover SUV that offers good cargo capacity, towing capacity, and offroad capabilities, all inside a smooth-lined exterior. As your Jeep dealer, we want to take you on a trip as we explore some of the features of the 2024 Jeep Compass.
Engine, Transmission, and Drivetrain
The Jeep Compass is available in five trim versions, featuring a 2.0L inline-4 DOHC Di turbo engine with automatic stop/start. This sturdy and powerful engine gives more than enough power for everyday needs. It provides 200 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque that will take you from 0 mph to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds.
This engine is mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission and 4×4 drivetrain. If you choose the Trailhawk trim, you get increased off-road capabilities due to its Rock mode and a lower gear ratio. Rock mode transfers power to wheels that have a firm grip on the surface, making driving over difficult terrain much easier.
MPG
Fuel economy is always a major consideration for every driver, particularly as the gas price always seems to rise. When you choose a Compass, you’ll be pleased to know that its advanced, fuel-efficient engine provides 24 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway, for a combined 27 mpg when tested by the EPA.
Cargo Space
The Compass offers a generous amount of cargo capacity for a compact SUV. It has 27.2 cubic feet of space in the trunk, which expands to 59.8 cubic feet with the rear seat folded down.
Interior Tech
The Compass features a standard 10.1″ color touchscreen with clear, sharp images, voice recognition, and navigation. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability are installed, and you have USB Type A and C connections in the front, with a Type C connection in the rear. Hands-free phone and audio are installed, together with steering-wheel-mounted audio controls.
In addition, Jeep Connect connected services and Sirius XM are installed. Audio is provided by a standard 6-speaker system.
Safety Features
Safety is an essential concern, and Compass has a range of safety systems to keep you and your passengers safe on the road. Blind spot and cross-path detection, hill-start assistance, all-speed traction control, and active lane management are included on all trim levels.
In addition, you also get a drowsy driver detection system, a rear parking camera, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
Towing Options
You can add a towing package to the Trailhawk trim, consisting of a Class III trailer hitch and 4-pin wiring harness, that enable you to tow up to 2,000 pounds.
