The new 2017 Jeep Cherokee has special edition trim levels the Altitude and the High Altitude. The Altitude is based on the Sport trim level with 18-inch Gloss Black aluminum wheels, a leather wrapped steering wheel with mounted audio controls, tinted sunscreen glass, and a Gloss Black exterior treatment. The High Altitude is based on the Limited trim level with 18-inch Gloss Black aluminum wheels, Gloss Black Jeep and 4x4 badges, and a Gloss Black exterior treatment. Under the Cherokee's Hood
You'll love the engine options in the 2017 Cherokee. The standard engine is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 184 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque and an optional engine is a 3.2-liter V6 that makes 271 hp and 239 lb-ft of torque. Both engines have a nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive are two options of drivetrain on either engine. The trim level Trailhawk only comes with four-wheel drive. The 4WD Sport, Latitude, and Limited have the Active Drive I with a Selec-Terrain dial. The Trailhawk and Overland comes with the Active Drive II system with one more mode on the Selec-Terrain dial. If you add a towing package to the V6 engine it can tow up to 4,500-pounds. The amount of gas per mile for the 4WD four-cylinder is 25 mpg, the FWD V6 is 24 mpg, and the Trailhawk is 21 mpg.

The Overland has features like rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path alert, a power liftgate, upgraded leather upholstery, and ventilated front seats. Each trim level has more features and some of the top-level features are available for the base level trims.

Are there any new packages?
Yes, when the Overland comes out later in the year it has two new packages. The Heavy Duty Protection Group with skid plates and a F/S spare tire and the Trailer Tow Prep Package with trailer-tow wiring harness, auxiliary transmission oil cooler, HD engine cooling, and a F/S spare tire.

The safety features are stability and traction control, anti-lock brakes, front and rear seat side airbags, side curtain airbags, and front knee airbags. You can add a rearview camera on the Sport trim, but it is standard on all the other trim levels. There is an 8.4-inch touchscreen that has a Uconnect Access system with automatic crash notification, remote door unlocking, on-demand roadside assistance, and stolen vehicle assistance. The Trailhawk, Limited, and Overland can have adaptive, cruise control, forward collision warning and mitigation system, blind-spot monitoring, a lane departure warning system, and rear cross-traffic alert.
